Security/Detention Designer

Moseley Architects, known for its collaborative culture and 55+ years of history, is seeking an experienced full-time Security/Detention Designer to be an integral member of our multi-disciplined team. In this role, you’ll create & edit project design deliverables related to security aspects of justice and civic projects focusing on detention and correction. May work a hybrid schedule after 90 days.
Location: Charlotte, NC (alternate office locations include Richmond, VA, Raleigh, NC, Greenville, SC, Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC)
Experience:
- 10+ years working within detention/correction. Strong knowledge of design for locks, hardware doors, frames, glazing, and detention equipment.
- Revit experience and/or BluBeam Revu are recommended but not mandatory.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with project design deliverables produced in Revit: drawings, details, schedules, etc.
- Develop and coordinate details required for project with floor plans and other drawing sheets.
- Create PDF files/ drawing sets. Maintain, update, and add to Revit Detail Library. Utilize MS Office Suite.
- Assist with review of drawings and documents for conformance to design intent. Will also review cost estimates against floor plans and other related drawings.
- Work directly with other designers and staff in other offices via company network.
- Review construction submittals.
- Interact with clients to better understand their DEC/SE needs.
Required Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret building drawings and site plans along with knowledge of standard construction terminology.
- Knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems and/or security electronics a plus.
- Detail-oriented team player who is a proactive self-starter.
- Well-organized and able to multi-task. Able to perform work in a timely and accurate manner.
