Structural Engineer

Richmond, VA
Moseley’s engineering team is growing and we are adding an experienced Structural Engineer to work on complex and diverse projects.

What’s needed: 5+ years of building design experience on institutional and/or commercial projects with prior experience in masonry, steel, and concrete framing systems. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering along with PE registration or the ability to obtain licensure. On the technology side, strong proficiency in Revit & Bluebeam along with structural analysis and design software such as Tekla, TEDDs, and RISA. In this role, you’ll work as part of a collaborative A/E team, travel to project sites occasionally to perform site observations and coordinate with contractors, and contribute through all phases from schematic design to construction administration.
Location: Richmond, VA or Charlotte, NC

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET program
  • 0+ years’ experience
  • FE or PE Preferred
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain a positive professional working relationship with team members while working together in a collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented approach.
  • Partner in the design, development, and of structural systems for small to medium size projects that may include existing facility evaluations, and feasibility studies.
  • Perform detailed calculations to develop construction, installation, and operational standards, specifications, and designs for structural systems or components.
  • Generate calculations, drawings, and specifications for structural systems and components.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs.
  • Assist in construction administration through conducting site visits.
  • Maintain accurate and timely project documentation.
  • Confirm all designs adhere to building codes and regulations.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to emerging professionals.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills:
  • Capable of working in a collaborative team environment to meet specific deadlines.
  • Diligence in monitoring progress, identifying potential problems, and designing solutions as necessary.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Software Proficiencies:
  • Autodesk Revit (BIM) experience required
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience required
  • Bluebeam experience required
  • TEDDs experience preferred
  • Tekla experience preferred
